The Rise of A.I. Companions (Video)

While our economy is slowly going down the drain, our technology keeps growing like an oversize brain over a shrinking body. Can we really "replicate" intelligence by inputting every single word ever uttered in a database and letting an AI chose skillfully as Google does? Isn't it just an empty mirror of what the real stuff is supposed to do? It works in chess or go because the "universe" of the possible in these games is limited but can it work with unlimited possibilities? And if it does not work yet, is it enough to start somewhere and progress till we get "there"? I do not know the answer to these questions. I believe there are still unknown algorithm we need to stumble upon like backward propagation which completely reformulated and solved the problem of image recognition for example. It cannot just be a simple question of how much data you can process per second or flops, there has to be more to intelligence than just the sum of deduction, empathy and a few other characteristics... or is it just that? We will know soon enough!
