It is difficult to highlight how much of a disaster the Trump lack of strategy is having for the whole world as we have been warning for months that the current outlook was the most probable outcome of terrible moves which staked upon each others are finally giving us a full blown financial crisis with interest rates exploding everywhere, not just in the US where the long term rates are hovering around 5%, oil prices are once again at 110 dollar per barrel, gas is a 4.50 dollar per gallon and diesel above 6 dollars.
The worst part of this worst case scenario is that it was entirely predictable and predicted right from the beginning. Trump as the real estate magnate that he was and never ceased to be is now proposing to literally bribe (5,000 $ per adult) the whole US population at insane costs to the budget (1.4 Trillion dollars) and inflation of course hoping that people will have forgotten by the election the tariff dividend of 2,000 dollars they never saw earlier this year.
It would be quite natural to dismiss all this as the normal Washington political shenanigan "show" if the consequences were not so deep with the world witnessing the military humiliation of a military paper tiger which outsized budget has financed marble Mac-mansions in the District of Columbia belt instead of actual capabilities. (For those who remember the brick city Washington was 40 years ago, outside the central Mall obviously, the contrast is amazing and loud.) or the acceleration of the build-up of a multi-polar world unmoored from Western institutions.
In the end, Trump said he was going to transform the US but instead of the one horse trick of the current AI bubble, what will be remembered of his presidency, is another failure on the scale of the Hoover presidency which inaugurated the 1929 Great Depression. We're still in September, but in September 1929, everything was still looking fine, actually better than today!
