Trump received a massive rebuke from the American people as expected. Now what's next?
On the domestic front, we can have a fair idea based on previous Presidents. The legislative will vote laws that he will veto. A typical lame-duck presidency.
But on the foreign front, he will have a freer hand and may try his luck as many people expect whence the risk that the war will Iran will be reignited as we discussed earlier.
Then there will be the "committees" that the Democrats will set-up to put pressure on trump. Two explosive files stand out:
- How Trump is making money by profiting from his own policies. But how far can they go in this respect considering that almost everybody in congress profit from their position to some extent? Can they really kill the Golden Goose?
- The Epstein closet of horrors. But Biden did nothing about it earlier and considering that many Democrats may likely be implicated too, it is a dangerous weapon almost impossible to use without harming your own side.
In reality, the fight will focus on funding the government and the debt ceiling as in the past where compromises will have to be made.
So, we're left with "war" which in the end is the only field where Trump will keep a free hand. So much for the "peace" president!
Now, where exactly should he strike first? Cuba? Mexico's cartels? Iran? The obvious choice is of course Iran with the huge risk of making things go very wrong, very quickly.
And then, there is the AI bubble ready to blow at any time...
The coming months could be quite... interesting.
