In retrospect, what exactly were people expecting? We already had an 80 year old President just before this one and the end of the presidency wasn't glorious to say the least. But at least with Biden, the Deep State was on its own, governing by inertia and keeping the country on tracks however wrong headed.
Trump is clearly different. He is like Biden verging on senility with diminished attention and inability to focus but with a added dark twist of infantile righteousness, that even his most devoted MAGA supporters are becoming to fear, considering the fact that he can change his mind almost mid-sentence.
This is no way to govern, even plain dangerous and still the system can do nothing. His removal would endanger too many people who profit from his preidency to be seriously considered.
A glimmer of hope is that he might be removed in November but conversely the risk is that understanding this, he might actually do something foolish before. How likely is this? If the rumor that he was seriously considering a nuclear strike on Iran a few weeks ago and had to be "whisked" out of the room to diffuse the tension true, then the answer is "very"!
