OK, this one is nerdy. For the non coding crowds, the sign: / (slash) means "end" in HTML computer language.
This said, the end has been near since the birth of civilization. We are, like everything else in nature, walking on the bleeding edge of evolution. There is no escaping our fate. The end has been near since the dawn of mankind and will accompany us until... the end! :-)
